Tuesday night will be the third matchup between the newly bitter rivals in the Albany Patroons and the New York Phoenix.  The two split the first two matchups at Armory Studios NY in Schenectady.  Now the next two are at historic Washington Avenue Armory in Albany.  From the coaches in Derrick Rowland and Trevis Wyche, to several of the players, to the fans, it is evident how big this rivalry has been to both historic downtowns who both love the round ball.  Below is my quick take on this as seen in The Times Union:

It has very quickly become a big rivalry game between the New York Phoenix and the Albany Patroons. The two teams will meet on Tuesday at the Washington Avenue Armory after splitting the first two games at the Armory Studio's in Schenectady. Both teams are evenly match and the team that plays the best defense will win. Which team defends the three-point line and gets back in transition will win. It's a game that should produce a big weekday crowd to watch some competitive basketball.

I can't wait to watch this game and I'm sure like the first two meetings, there will be a huge crowd.  MJ and I had on Derrick Rowland earlier today to preview the matchup tonight.  Below is our full interview with him enjoy.

This new rivalry is so great for Capital Region sports.  The intensity and competition is there but so is the respect as well.  Get ready for at least two more awesome local basketball games in the TBL.
