‘World’s Largest Cheesecake’ Record to Be Broken in Upstate NY Saturday
Have you purchased your tickets for the annual Cream Cheese Festival in Upstate New York? If you haven't already, you should, because you'll have the chance to witness history.
The festival, held each year on the third Saturday of September, takes place in Lowville, NY. Lowville is the home of the world's largest cream cheese factory, which is owned by Kraft Heinz.
Kraft Heinz owns Philadelphia Cream Cheese, and the Lowville-based factory processes hundreds of millions of pounds of milk each year for the delectable cream cheese spread.
At this year's Cream Cheese Festival, representatives from Kraft Heinz will be attempting to reclaim their own world record. Check out this quote from WWNY:
"The cheesecake Kraft Heinz plans to unveil at this weekend’s Cream Cheese Festival will top out at 15,000 pounds made with Philadelphia Cream Cheese from the Lowville plant." - WWNY
The current record is 9,300 pounds, set by a Russian company in 2017.

The cheesecake creation will require massive quantities of three different ingredients. They are:
- Philadelphia cheesecake filling (13,500 pounds)
- Graham cracker crumbs (870 pounds)
- Sugar (300 pounds)
The finished cake is expected to come in at 11 feet, 6 inches in diameter.
The Cream Cheese Festival is happening in downtown Lowville on Saturday, September 21st. The event will begin at 11AM, and conclude at 6PM. Outside of Kraft Heinz's cheesecake feat, there will also be a cream cheese recipe contest.
All recipes will be made with Philadelphia Cream Cheese, and all entries will be judged based on presentation, creativity and taste. Cash prizes will be awarded for first through third place in two categories for the contest: dessert and non-dessert.
