If you have seen some past blogs or know me personally, you know that I am a huge professional wrestling fan! Grew up on it in the days of Hulk Hogan and Rowdy Roddy Piper  and it’s carried on since then! Anytime a wrestling event comes to the area,  you can guarantee that I will be in attendance. That is why I am really excited to hear that news that the biggest annual pro wrestling event will be just a few hours away from here at the home of the New York Giants and Jets.

According to sources, Wrestlemania 29 will take place in MetLife Stadium in East Rutheford, New Jersey. WWE Chairman Vince McMahon wants to beat the NFL to the punch holding a huge event at the Stadium before the Super Bowl which will be held there in 2014. So We can expect the likes of John Cena, CM Punk, Randy Orton and more to be brawling in late March/early April not too far away from the Capital Region.

My bucket list includes going to many sporting events including the Daytona 500, The World Series and the Super Bowl. This would also be on that list. I was thinking of going to Wrestlemania 20 on a bus trip years ago and didn’t do it and have been kicking myself ever since.  It would be such a great experience. I wouldn’t care where I was sitting, whether it was on the floor or in the nosebleed section, just to say I was there is all I would need. I know I have some fellow employees here at the radio station that are huge WWE fans as well, I may just have to plan out a road trip next Spring!

Update: It is official, according to the Associated Press, three sources from NFL, New Jersey Politics and New Jersey Sports confirm that New Jersey Governor Chris Christie will hold a Press Conference Thursday at the Stadium to announce the event. Jets Owner Woody Johnson and Giants Owners John Mara and Steve Tisch will be on hand as well along with a number of WWE Superstars and Owner Vince McMahon.
