When I was checking the score of the Yankees game the other night, I absolutely got too caught up in the fact that they were scoring runs, and completely ignored the glaring concern that could derail their World Series run.

You can only expect so much

The Yankees bullpen has been lights out over the last few months. But when the Houston Astros came to town, they gave up more runs in one game than they had in the previous seven combined. I look specifically at Brent Headrick, who has been having a career year with the Yankees porting a sub 2 ERA. But, Headrick has also been used more this season than he ever has before.

Shoulda Coulda Woulda

A game like the recent loss to Houston adds a whole lot of concern, especially considering the Yankees had a chance to add more bullpen depth at the trade deadline and opted not to. The team seemed, in my opinion, to be banking on some of their starters becoming bullpen arms and the rest of the bullpen staying healthy to continue to dominate in the post season.

Well, even if these bullpen arms are healthy, I do wonder if they'll be able to last an entire playoffs and pitch well.

Can't afford pitching mistakes now

What adds even more concern to this team is that, let's just say the bullpen is not as dominant in the postseason, the offense is still not consistent enough to counteract that. Maybe with Aaron Judge back my concerns on the offense will lessen. But as of right now I can't sit here and be confident the Yankees will only give up 1-3 runs in playoff games.
