Yankees Reportedly Agree To Bring Back J.A. Happ
Just hours after reports had the Philadelphia Phillies close to signing Lef- Handed Pitcher J.A.Happ, there are now reports Happ has agreed to return to the New York Yankees. Ken Rosenthal of the Athletic is reporting that the Yankees and Left Handed All-Star Pitcher Happ have agreed on a three-year deal pending a physical.
Happ would join Masahiro Tanaka, Luis Severino, James Paxton and CC Sabathia in the Yankees starting rotation. The 36-year-old lefty was 7 - 0 in 11 starts for the Yankees last season adding much-needed stability to the starting rotation. The Yankees reportedly traded for Happ primarily due to his success against the Red Sox. Which made his sole postseason appearance extra disappointing as he gave up five earned runs in two innings of work in a 5 - 4 loss of game one of last seasons ALDS.
Happ was a key piece to the Yankees winning 100 games last season and a welcomed return to the Pinstripes. Hopefully, the Yankees will still add at least one more quality starter but with Jonathan Loaisiga, Domingo German, Jordan Montgomery and Chance Adams in the minors the Yankees have a ton of depth or trade pieces.
