The New York Yankees have yet again been hit with the injury bug. They've managed to stay afloat in the last couple months on the heels of elite pitching while Aaron Judge has been out. But, just as this pitching rotation was about to reach its peak, another injury hit the Yankees clubhouse.

The Yankees placed Max Fried on the 15 day injured list recently with a left elbow bone bruise. The injury doesn't sound too serious at first glance, but this is the same elbow that was giving Fried problems earlier this season that caused him to miss some time, specifically 9 weeks.

Now fans can choose to look at this one of two ways, either A immediately assume that Fried is done for the season, or B he's getting needed rest before the playoffs. Many fans I've seen react to the news online are expecting Fried to be done for the year.

The possible saving grace could be that Fried's exit coincides with the return of Carlos Rodon. So, at least the Yankees do still have a full 5 man rotation, but this makes the Yankees trade deadline decisions loom much larger.

The Yankees did not make any huge splashes at this year's trade deadline. They added a couple decent bats but did not add any bullpen relief. The hope was that with such strong rotation depth, they could easily add some rotation arms to the bullpen. If Fried is done for the season, it certainly makes the chase for another World Series immensely harder.
