The Yankees should still be a favorite to get to the World Series, but the road just got a lot tougher. Luis Severino needs Tommy John surgery and is done for the year, which means Masahiro Tanaka and J.A. Happ move in behind Gerrit Cole atop the rotation. The Yankees still have one of the best pitchers in baseball with Cole, but losing Severino means the Yankees don’t have the depth they once had.  Yankee fans more than ever, should be thankful Owner Hal Steinbrenner outbid the rest of the contenders for Cole, otherwise the loss of Severino would be a bigger deal.
