"Go on, Dan, I'm listening..."
The Albany FireWolves announced on their team website a partnership with Albany County to provide incentives to kids getting the COVID-19 vaccine. For children ages 12-15, if they get a vaccine anywhere in the county, they will be eligible to get a free ticket to the FireWolves home opener. The first 1,000 kids who show proof of the vaccine will be eligible, and those who can provide a certificate from the County's vaccination program will also be eligible for further discounts.
Lacrosse fans in the Capital Region are in luck, as Albany International Airport is distributing COVID-19 vaccines all through this week.
This announcement comes on the heels of the team announcing the Albany FireWolves Foundation, which will lead the philanthropic and charitable efforts from the team throughout the Region. The FireWolves are partnering with Albany County, which is participating in Governor Cuomo's plan to provide vaccinations at airports across the state.
With the National Lacrosse League slated to begin play in late 2021, the FireWolves are currently selling season tickets for the inaugural season at the Times Union Center. After relocating from Connecticut, the FireWolves are one of 14 franchises in the NLL, a league comprised of teams from as close as Buffalo, to as far as Saskatchewan in Canada. The teams are made up of some of the finest lacrosse players in North America and beyond, many of which play both indoor and outdoor lacrosse, depending on the season.
