After losing their first game of the Little League District 8 State Tournament, the Colonie 12-year-olds rattled off five straight wins to capture the tournament title and advance to the little league regional, one step away from the Little League World Series in Williamsport, Penn.

Colonie lost its opening game to Wappingers Falls, 10-7, before beating Grand Island 1-0 in the first elimination game. After that? Colonie outscored opponents 62-9 over the next five games. They beat Wappingers Falls twice in the championship, winning the two games by a combined 30-1.

The regional will begin Friday in Bristol, Conn. Colonie will play Washington D.C. at 5 p.m.
