After a series of ugly skirmishes forced the cancellation of Rennselaer and Whitehall in the third quarter on Saturday, it isn't clear whether or not Whitehall head coach Justin Culligan still has a job.

Rennselaer head coach Joel Preston reported after the game that a Whitehall assistant choked a Rennselaer senior running back during the hotly-contested game. The Whitehall board of education met Monday and has said that a varsity football coach has been relieved of his duties -- but we are not sure if it's Culligan or an assistant.

The two teams could easily meet again in the four-team Class D playoffs. Whitehall is the top seed while Rennselaer is third. Each team only needs to win one game to meet the other again.
