Murray State PG Cameron Payne has drafted by the Oklahoma City Thunder. Payne, will be a great backup to Russell Westbrook. The Thunder have been thin at this position since trading Reggie Jackson.

Payne comes out of Murray State after playing two seasons for the Racers. He was on the first-team All-OVC (Ohio Valley Conference) in both of his seasons and he won the OVC player of the year award for the 2014-15 seasons. His averages for his sophomore year were impressive as he averaged 20.2 PPG, 6.0 APG, 3.7 RPG and 1.9 SPG. The Racers won 25 consecutive games in 2014-15 but failed to win their conference tournament and get an NCAA tournament bid.

Payne’s draft stock has risen ever since he declared for the draft. A bit of an unknown because he played at a small school in Kentucky. The hype has grown because of his combination of quickness and length that goes along with a scoring and passing ability.
