Geno Smith To Start Jets Third Preseason Game

The quarterback race between Geno Smith and Mark Sanchez continues to heat up for the New York Jets. The team has decided to start Smith for their third preseason game against the New York Giants this Saturday.

Smith has been taking the bulk of the first team snaps this week at practice, and with a good performance in this game could solidify himself as the favorite to win the starting job from the incumbent in Sanchez.

Working in his benefit is the fact that Smith will more than likely play a half of football in this game, as is customary for the first teamers to do in the third preseason game on an NFL team's schedule.

Smith is 6/7 passing thus far in the preseason with 47 yards, while Sanchez has thrown two touchdowns and two interceptions through two contests.
