Going into tonight's game against the Baltimore Orioles, the New York Yankees need a lot of help if they're going to stay in the AL east race.

The good news is Michael Pineda will return to the Yankees' starting rotation. Pineda has not pitched in the majors since April 23 when he was ejected in the second inning for having a glob of pine tar on his neck. However, he was highly effective and with all the injuries to the Yankees starting pitchers Pineda is not only welcome but NEEDED.

The bad news is the Yankees are 6 games behind Baltimore Orioles in the AL East and 2.5 behind the Kansas City Royals and 1.5 behind Toronto and Seattle for the second Wildcard.

Fingers crossed Pineda can make a difference and Hiroki Kuroda can hold off his yearly August swoon until after October.
