Well, the 2012 Section II spring sports season is here and that means activity almost every day whether it's baseball, softball, track and field, lacrosse or tennis.

One of the teams making big news already is Niskayuna High School boys lacrosse sporting a 4-0 record.

Niskayuna turned back Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake, 20-8, on Tuesday in a battle of Suburban Council unbeatens.

Lucas Maloney, Matt Sexton and Blake Pfohl each contributed three goals to power the Silver Warriors.

Trevor Hiss and Nick Vincent had three and two goals, respectively for Burnt Hills.

On Saturday, Niskayuna turned in a great performance and knocked off powerhouse Jamesville-DeWitt (Section 3), 17-10, in non-league action. The game was played at Jamesville-DeWitt.

In other play Tuesday, Kyle Marr delivered five goals to help Shenendehowa edge past Ballston Spa, 10-9, in another Suburban Council contest.

Not to be outdone, John McDonald brought home five goals on the Ballston Spa side.

In girls action, Kayla Treanor and Catherine Sexton each scored four goals as Niskayuna downed Burnt Hills, 14-10. Nicole Beardsley put together five goals for the Spartans.

Lauren Smith exploded for five goals as Shaker remained unbeaten at 4-0 beating Saratoga, 17-10, in SC play.

On the diamond, Maria Patterson pitched a no-hitter and struck out 13 to lead Mohonasen softball to an 8-0 win over Albany in non-league action. Patterson had a single, double, triple and drove in three runs on the offensive side.
