According to a report from the Glens Falls Post Star, former Whitehall football coach Justin Culligan, who was fired on Oct. 20, was terminated for the use of foul language.

Culligan was let go after a controversial Oct. 18 game between Whitehall and Rennselaer turned ugly. Several pushing and shoving matches occurred, and accusations of racial slurs and even a coach putting his hands on a player were reported. The game was called early in the fourth quarter and Whitehall was awarded the win.

However, Culligan was supposedly let go because of his use of foul language, which the school has a zero-tolerance policy for. He has not been told if the incident even stems from the game against Rennselaer, or what he supposedly said.

“Nobody told me who saw me, when it was,” he said to the Post Star. “If there was a specific instance, I would be more than happy to sit down with the board and agree or disagree with them. At no point did I ever put a hand on a kid. At no point do I ever remember swearing,"

He is looking at ways to appeal the school board's decision. You can read the full story here. I advise you to do so.

Culligan was initially not even reappointed to his position this summer, but players and parents rallied behind him.
