Reports have indicated that Syracuse has offered Shenendehowa junior guard a scholarship. Huerter will graduate Shenendehowa in 2016, but Syracuse will not offer him until 2017. They want him to go to prep school for a year.

This comes from the April 22 Syracuse Post-Standard Online:

(Albany City Rocks head coach Jim) Hart said Huerter won't turn 17 until the end of August, which makes him young for his 2016 class and could nudge him to attend prep school for a year and reclassify into 2017. With Syracuse's various interests in the 2016 class and with just one scholarship available at this point, Huerter's reclassification would make him more interesting to the Orange.

Huerter helped lead Shen to the Class AA NYS title this season. He solidified himself as the top returner to the Capital Region next season. He was named to New York State's Class AA second-team. This could be because with so many Shenendehowa blowout wins, he didn't need to log huge minutes to put up huge numbers.

We will continue to keep tabs on the Orange' interest in Huerter.
