Capital Region football turned ugly this weekend, when a brawl broke out in the second quarter of a Whitehall-Rensselaer game.  After further scuffling ensued after halftime, the game was eventually abandoned.

And now, a coach has lost its job.

Whitehall coach Justin Culligan, whose Athletic Director first suggested calling off the game, was fired on Monday night.  Culligan had been in his fourth year coaching the team, but the weekend's transgressions - which now include accusations of racially charged language and an assistant coach's use of force on a Rensselaer player - proved too much.

The Whitehall board of education voted unanimously, and with no discussion, to remove Culligan.
