Believe it or not, we have a positive New York Yankees' story to report: one of the team's legendary names was spotted in the Capital Region recently. More specifically, he stopped by a Saratoga Springs-based Italian restaurant, surprising restaurant staff and patrons alike with his presence.

He was also kind enough to pose with a few folks from the restaurant in a photo that also featured some championship-caliber bling.

New York Yankees' Legend Joe Torre Spotted at Capital Region Restaurant

Saratoga Springs-based Italian restaurant Osteria Danny posted a photo on their official Facebook page that caught the attention of a few keen-eyed New York Yankees' fans. One of the most legendary names of a generation in The Bronx happened to stop by their restaurant late last week.

Take a look:

That's former New York Yankees' World Series-winning manager, Joe Torre, in the flesh at Osteria Danny. He's standing on the right, and Chef Danny Petrosino is standing in the middle, showing off what appears to be Torre's 1998 World Series ring.

The photo was posted on Friday evening just before 9PM, meaning that Torre might've been in Saratoga Springs for the 154th running of the Travers Stakes. If you haven't been to Osteria Danny before, here's where it's located in Saratoga, courtesy of Google Maps:

Torre was known for his time across town with the New York Mets before being hired by the Yankees. He finished his playing career in Queens from 1975-1977, and began his managerial career there from 1977 (as an interim player-manager) through 1981.

After stints in Atlanta and St. Louis, George Steinbrenner hired Torre as the Yankees' manager in 1996. His resume in The Bronx is almost beyond compare, as he spent twelve full seasons, managing 1,942 regular-season games, and winning 1,173 of them. He took the team to the postseason in every one of his twelve seasons with the club, winning six American League pennants and four World Series.

After a brief stint with the Dodgers, he moved to an executive role with Major League Baseball, and has been with the league in various capacities since 2011. He's a legend of the game of baseball, which makes this photo, taken in Saratoga, all the more special for fans in our area.
