ESPN officially announced today the driver Danica Patrick will serve as the host for the 2018 ESPYS award show. The ground breaking athlete, Patrick announced her retirement from her sport following this month's Indy 500 race. Patrick will become the first female host in the award show's history. In its now twenty sixth year of existence, the ESPYS (short for Excellence in Sports Performance Yearly) recognizes the accomplishments of teams, coaches, athletes and more both on their respective playing surfaces and off.Earlier this month, ESPN announced that the survivors who stood up against criminal Larry Nassar would be awarded with the Arthur Ashe Courage Award. The nominees for this year's award cateorgies will be announced later this summer. This year's ESPYS will be broadcasted live from the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles on July 18th.
