The Philadelphia 76er's have started the 2015-16 off to a record start.  Just not the type of record they were hoping.

Last night the Philadelphia 76er's became the first NBA team ever to start a season 1-29. They are on pace to finish the season 3-79.  The least amount of wins in a full NBA season is 9 by the 1973 Philadelphia 76er's.

With a team this putrid, the question normally arises: worst team ever?

Possibly.

This team is one of the youngest teams in the NBA.  They have 2 players on their roster over the age of 24.  They clearly lack veteran leadership as well as a stable front office to maintain any sort of consistent winning in today's NBA.  They have had four games this season where they have turned the ball over at least 25 times, the rest of the NBA, only 3 times.

Should they post the worst record in NBA history, it would almost be certain that they will obtain the #1 pick in the upcoming 2016 NBA draft which would most likely see LSU freshmen stud Ben Simmons be selected as the first selection.  Should they land a player like Simmons, then they would have a major piece to build their franchise around.  Pairing him with an improving Jahlil Okafor would easily make this a 20-win team at least, which is still bad, but way better than the scenario they are stuck in today.
