Last night marked the end of one of the most iconic careers in American sports. Abby Wambach played her last game for the United States Women's National Soccer Team. The team lost 1-0 to China. It was the first loss for the U.S. on home soil since 2004. It was a span of 104 games.

Wambach scored 184 goals in her career. That's the most goals in international play on either the men's or women's side.

From the Los Angeles Daily News:

“I love this team,” Wambach said in comments delivered on the field to fans after the game. “It has been my pleasure and my honor to represent you all, the fans for as long as I’ve been able to. ... The future is so bright. These women are going to kill it.”

There were 33,000 people in attendance at the game to bid goodbye to Wambach. She played 72 minutes before exiting to thunderous cheers.
