Former Buffalo Bills Quarterback Will Start In The XFL

After the Superbowl is over this year, football fans will not have to go into a couple of months of depression.  Football will continue with the XFL.

And for Bills fans, they should be able to watch a former quarterback step up under center...even if he didn't play for the Bills all that long.

2018 was a big year for the Buffalo Bills.  They had just moved on from Tyrod Taylor at quarterback and were still trying to decide if second-year quarterback Nathan Peterman would be able to hold down the fort until Josh Allen could take over.  They had also just signed former Alabama standout AJ McCarron to a 2-year, $10 million contract and told him that he could compete for the starting job also.  It was a three-way battle between Peterman, Allen, and McCarron.

McCarron was injured in a preseason game and barely made it to September with the Bills.  He was traded to the Oakland Raiders on September 1, 2018, for a 2019 fifth-round draft pick.  Since then he's gone on to play for the Houston Texans and the Atlanta Falcons.  In his last game with the Falcons, he suffered an ACL injury and hasn't played since.

However, his playing days aren't over.  He has been drafted into the XFL to play quarterback for the St. Louis Battlehawks.  He will easily be one of the most recognizable names at quarterback in the XFL.  Here is the entire list of QBs in that league.

• St. Louis Battlehawks: AJ McCarron and Ryan Willis

The XFL will start their season following the conclusion of the NFL season on February 18, 2023.
