After being bought out by the Knicks on Sunday, Amar'e Stoudemire is set to join the Dallas Mavericks once he clears waivers on Wednesday at 5 p.m.

Stoudemire is going to get a chance to compete for a championship, as the Mavericks are currently 36-19 and fifth in the Western Conference.

He averaged 12 points and 6.8 rebounds a game with the Knicks this year while battling injury.

He issued this statement on Monday about leaving New York.

"I feel truly blessed to have been able to play for the incredible New York fans, Mr. Dolan, my coaches, teammates and the entire Knicks organization for the past five years," Stoudemire said in a statement released by the team. "I will be forever grateful for the opportunity to contribute positively on the court and in the community."
