The Buffalo Bills have made some history, becoming the first organization to hire a female as a full-time NFL coach.

Kathryn Smith will become the Bills new quality control-special teams coach. She has been on the staff for the past seven years but has earned the full-time promotion.

Read what head coach Rex Ryan has to say about his new staff member:

This is a big step for not only the Bills, but the entire NFL. As Mike Greenberg said earlier today on 'Mike and Mike,' it would stand to reason that the NFL would be one of the tougher sports to crack into the coaching business.

Becky Hammon is the coach of the San Antonio Spurs that Ryan is referring to. She led the Spurs to a Summer League title this year after a lengthy career as a player in the WNBA.

The Bills aren't in the playoffs, but they are still making headlines!
