Can UAlbany Pull Off The Upset Over Vermont On Saturday?
The stage is now set for the America East men's basketball quarterfinals. UAlbany is the eight seed and they travel and take on Vermont the one seed in Burlington Vermont Saturday at 3 p.m. The Catamounts are a massive favorite on paper and have not lost a conference game at home in Patrick Gymnasium. UAlbany has the talent on offense but Vermont has the best defense in the entire conference and one of the best in the entire country. Below is my quick take on this from The Times Union:
UAlbany men's basketball team can be a dangerous postseason team because they can really score the ball especially with their two guards Sebastian Thomas and Amare Marshall. The issue won't be enough offense the issue will be defense. Can they defend on the road in America East Quarterfinal Round on Saturday? The Great Danes have shown flashes and the few games when they defended at a high level they won, but those games have been at Broadview Center. Saturday will be a road game but if they can defense and rebound with greet effort you must give the Great Danes a chance of pulling of the upset.

MJ and I will have the call and I'm hoping for and expecting a good game. UAlbany has nothing to lose as the lower seed but Vermont just dominates the America East conference. For UAlbany it is good to be back in the conference tourney after missing it last year and you never know with March basketball all you have to do is get into your respective conference tournament. Let the madness begin!
