This week on 104.5 the Team we are continuing the #CapitalRegionGreatestSportsMomentBracket as we are trying to crown the best sports moment in the history of the Capital Region as decided by you! There are so many great moments and like the NCAA had to expand their field, we expanded ours so therefore today we have our third play-in matchup today!

(8) Tri-City ValleyCats Win 2010 NY Penn League

After they had three consecutive losing seasons, things turned around in the Stedler Division for the ValleyCats. They finished the season 38-36 and were the underdog heading into the playoffs. The Brooklyn Cyclones (51-24) were the heavy favorites in the championship but the Cats were not intimated. Vamos Gatos! Witness the final out below:

(8) Niskayuna Native Jeff Blatnick Wins Gold Medal in 1984 Olympics

Blatnick won national championships in the late 70's in NCAA Division 2 and qualified for the 1980 Olympics but the USA boycotted them so he was unable to compete in them. He got his chance in 1984 and boy did he deliver. He won the Gold in Olmympic Greco-Roman +100 kg becoming the first American to win Gold in that event along with Steve Fraser that year.
