Cardinals WR Larry Fitzgerald To Sign Monster Deal
Stud wide receiver Larry Fitzgerald is expected to sign an enormous deal with the Arizona Cardinals. The record deal will keep Fitzgerald in Arizona for a long time.
Larry Fitzgerald is expected to sign a record eight-year, $120 million deal. ESPN's Adam Schefter is reporting that the deal will include $50 million in guaranteed money. Fitzgerald would be under contract through 2018. He currently is 27 years old. The new deal would add six additional years after 2012 worth $17 million a year.
The Arizona Cardinals traded starting cornerback Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie and a 2nd-round pick to the Philadelphia Eagles in exchange for quarterback Kevin Kolb. The Cardinals also gave Kolb a $63 million deal (with $20 million guaranteed). Arizona absolutely had to lock up Larry Fitzgerald to give Kevin Kolb a legitimate target. Fitzgerald is a five-time Pro Bowler who has scored at least six touchdowns in all of his seven NFL seasons. History suggests this is a wise investment.
