Concerts Return to New York but at What Cost? $13,000?

In 2019 I was fortunate enough to attend 60 concerts. That dropped to about 5 total concerts in 2020 so, needless to say, I am very excited to get back to the amphitheaters, arenas and venues to hear live music once again but at what price?

Will artists and promoters try to recoup lost wages with huge ticket prices? That remains to be seen. What I can tell you is that fan resale and 'ticket bot' site prices are skyrocketing.

Look at the Elton John show as an example. The 'Rocketman" will play the Carrier Dome in Syracuse on September 10, 2022 on his 'Farewell Yellow Brick Road; The Final Tour". Original ticket prices had a face value starting at $55 plus fees. Today, via Vivid Seats for example, the top asking $12,766 for a pair of upper-level tickets! Whether they get what they are asking for is another thing. Supply and demand!

The majority of us don't have that kind of cash to spend on a concert so what can we do to save money and still see our favorite artists? Here are some options:

• Keep listening to us for your chance to win FREE tickets!
• Join the artists, often free, fan club, for access to pre-sale opportunities at face value.
• Try the Cash or Trade app. They claim to be the world's only social network where fans buy, sell & trade tickets at face value.
• Day of tickets - The day of a concert it is likely to find very good seats to a show for sale at face value. Promoters will release tickets that were being held for various reasons and release them to the general public. If you are willing to take a risk you could end up with quite a score.

The more money we can save on each ticket the more shows we can attend. See you at the show!
