Bad news out of the NHL last night as Edmonton Oilers Rookie Connor McDavid left the game with an injury that will keep him out "long term" reportedly.

Here's a look at the play from multiple angles:

You may not know who Connor McDavid is, but he's the No. 1 pick in this year's draft. He's only 18 and he's been taking the NHL by storm. He was named the Rookie of the Month for the league and leads all rookies with 12 points.

He and Buffalo Sabres rookie Jack Eichel are both expected to be long-term faces of the NHL. Cbssports.com says this: "This injury will interrupt what had been one of the most anticipated rookie seasons since Sidney Crosby and Alex Ovechkin arrived simultaneously in 2005-06."

It's also bad from a league promotion standpoint, as the league looks to continue to find ways to market itself.

Hopefully McDavid is back and is able to regain his form soon.
