The University of Albany Men's Basketball program received tough news today that they would be forced to go back on pause. A Tier One member of the program has tested positive for COVID-19. Tier One consists of coaches, players, managers, and any staff that comes into direct contact with the team. The "good" news is that this is a temporary pause. The word temporary adds a little hope to the situation.

This is the Great Danes' first pause based on UAlbany having an issue with COVID-19 themselves since before they resumed play on Saturday, December 19th against UMBC. This pause will most likely force the Saturday, January 30th, and Sunday, January 31st back-to-back games against UMass Lowell to be postponed or canceled. Based on past experience the earliest UAlbany men's Basketball could return to the court would be Super Bowl weekend February 6th and 7th against Hartford in Connecticut. This is on the heels of the America East Conference changing their schedule to Two Week Intervals.
