The UAlbany Great Danes men's basketball team really came to play on Sunday afternoon.  They beat a 14-2 Umass Lowell River Hawk team 89-63 in a blowout win at home at Hudson Valley Community College.  The most impressive part was their overall team defense and the fact that four guys led them in scoring which were: Gerald Drumgoole Jr, Sarju "Juice" Patel, Aaron Reddish, and Jonathan Beagle.  It was a great and much needed win for the Great Danes as I continue this discussion in my quick take from the Times Union:
If UAlbany can bottle Sunday’s performance against UMass-Lowell, they will very quickly become a contender in the America East Conference. The Great Danes turned in their best performance of the season defensively, and coupled with an offense that produced 13 three point field goals, UAlbany got a surprising blowout win over the River Hawks. Defense is all about effort, and the Great Danes had more effort than we have seen all season. The top three teams in the America East lost on Sunday, so it’s a conference that is very much wide open this season. UAlbany proved on Sunday that they can be a dangerous team moving forward.

MJ, Joey, and I all had a discussion earlier today on Big Board Sports about the UAlbany men's basketball team and their terrific performance on Sunday.  Below is our full conversation on this.

Next up for the head coach Dwayne Killings Great Danes is on the road at Bryant Wednesday night and at NJIT Saturday night.  They currently sit at 6-12 overall and after a tough non-conference schedule, they now are in the thick of things in the America East conference.
