The Mets now find themselves down 2-0 in the World Series after suffering a 7-1 loss on Wednesday night.

Johnny Cueto outdueled Jacob deGrom and the Royals added some extra insurance late to cement the victory.

Cueto threw a complete-game two hitter in which the only real blemish was a Lucas Duda RBI single in the top of the fourth.

deGrom was great through four innings, but his pitch count began to elevate and the Royals got him for three runs in the fifth inning.

Another issue for deGrom?

As has been heavily noted, the Royals are the No. 1 hitting team against fastballs above 95 MPH, and they were able to wear deGrom out.

Twenty-three foul balls? That's just an incredible number and shows just how difficult the Royals are to retire.

If the Mets are going to come back in this series, they'll need to find a way to get their starters deeper into the game and avoid the Royals wearing them down.
