Mets rookie phenom Jacob deGrom will not make his next start after being placed on the 15-day disabled list with what is being called "shoulder tendonitis."

That's certainly good news for the Mets, as is this tweet from Carig, a Mets beat writer for Newsday.

Hopefully that's all it is. deGrom has been a huge bright spot in New York this season, pitching to a 6-5 record and a 2.87 ERA. He was (is?) a strong candidate for National League Rookie of the Year.

The Mets need him healthy, as they stand to form a good, young rotation next season with him and the return of a hopefully healthy Matt Harvey, Zack Wheeler, Dillon Gee -- and a less young Bartolo Colon.

The Mets have called up Rafael Montero.
