If Victor Cruz ends up playing on Sunday in Buffalo because he says he’s 100%, don’t actually expect him to be 100%.

“You have to be careful,” said ESPN’s Adam Schefter, to ‘Armen and Levack’, on 104.5 The Team. “He’s coming back from that knee injury over a year ago and had the calf injury. He’s not going to play every down of every play. I would think he plays part-time.

“My guess if he’s out there on Sunday, he’ll play 20 or more plays. You can’t risk him going out there for an extended period and have him aggravate a muscle strain.”

At this point, the Giants have made it clear that they’ll have to see how Cruz looks this week, with Wednesday being a really big practice day for him.

“Victor Cruz fully expects to play on Sunday against Buffalo but Tom Coughlin still wants to see him during the week. I think they want to see him get through the week of practice, they want to see that he’s looking right and well. Everybody is confident that Victor Cruz is going to play this weekend, none more confident than Cruz himself.

“Teams are normally smart when handling these players and it’ll be no different with Victor Cruz.”

The 1-2 Giants are on the road to take on 2-1 Bills at 1p ET this Sunday.

ESPN’s Adam Schefter joins ‘Armen and Levack’ every Monday at 4:45p ET, on 104.5 The Team, sponsored by Death Wish Coffee.
