Marin Cilic didn't make it easy for Roger Federer today in the third round of the US Open from New York City.  Federer was able to over come some obstacles and walk into the fourth round.

It was a hard fought victory for Roger Federer at the US Open Today.  Marin Cilic gave Federer quite the scare after taking the second round 4-6, but Federer was able to hold things together for the third and fourth to win 6-3,4-6,6-4,6-2.  He now moves onto the fourth round.

The big turning point came when Cilic was given a warning by the umpire after taking to long to serve.  He gave up his serve after a double fault after the warning, and from that point on it seemed like smooth sailing for Federer.   Unlike in the first couple matches, Federer didn't give Cilic a chance to bounce back and closed out the remaining sets.

Federer will now face Janko Tipsarevic on Tuesday.
