It’s a sad day when Big Blue had to release veteran wide receiver Victor Cruz, one of the most popular Giants of all-time. Cruz was willing to accept a big pay-cut to stay with New York, but at age 30 and his production down the Giants weren’t willing to go down that road. Cruz first turned heads at Giants training camp back in the summer of 2010 at the University at Albany as an undrafted free agent, and after making the team quickly became a fan favorite. But this is a business decision. The Giants will save $7.5 million on their 2017 salary cap, and saving money and not overcompensating is the name of the game.
