Home from Ireland, UAlbany Gets Back in the Win Column
The UAlbany men's basketball team had a trip to Ireland in many ways to remember, but also some to forget. After the sightseeing was complete, the Great Danes played back to back days against LIU-Brooklyn and Dartmouth, both resulting in losses. The latter far uglier than the former.
In that loss to Dartmouth, UAlbany allowed 17 made three-pointers to the Big Green and, despite closing the gap in the second half, was never able to climb all the way back. Coming back to the States, UAlbany had a four game losing streak with a desperate, winless Monmouth team coming to SEFCU Arena.
Against Monmouth on Saturday night, UAlbany trailed by four points at halftime, but Ahmad Clark stayed hot after his 20 points in the first half and the Great Danes shot nearly 50% from downtown. Clark, Cam Healey, Devonte Campbell and Antonio Rizzuto, who was making his collegiate debut, all made at least three from beyond the arc.
What was a four point deficit turned into a blowout win with an offensive explosion in the second half to halt that four game losing streak. From here, UAlbany goes to Yale on Tuesday before hosting Dartmouth on Saturday afternoon.
