The Patriots agreed to part ways with head coach Bill Belichick earlier this week after 24 years together.  He won six Super Bowls during that stretch and is easily the greatest coach in NFL history.  You wonder where he ends up now.  The Chargers and Raiders are emerging as potential candidates but we shall see what happens.  Below is my quick take on this as seen in the Times Union:

Not surprised Bill Belichick is all done with the New England Patriots and not surprised that he's not retiring. Belichick needs 15 more wins to become the NFL's All Time winningest head coach and more importantly he wants to win another Super Bowl with someone not named Tom Brady at quarterback. Things went in the wrong for Belichick when he longer had Brady as his starting quarterback. Belichick needs to find a team where he can win a Super Bowl on the next 2-3 years because at 71 years old, I don't see him coaching much longer than that.

The Patriots already found their replacement in Jerod Mayo who has been on the coaching staff the past few seasons and was a terrific player under Belichick with the Patriots.  They kept it internal with someone who knows the personnel and organization well.  It will most likely take Mayo some time to rebuild this team as they do not have a good roster and will need to draft a quarterback with the number three overall pick in the 2024 NFL Draft.  It is now the Jerod Mayo era in New England.  What an incredible ride for Bill Belichick.
