The UAlbany men's basketball team is significantly better this season than they were last season and it's not even close.  The Great Danes beat the Binghamton Bearcats 95-75 on Saturday night in a game that many thought would be close.  America East conference basketball is always close and competitive but that wasn't the case at home at the Broadview Center.  Amare Marshall and Sebastian Thomas are real difference makers and head coach Dwayne Killings really delivered in the transfer portal.  Below is my quick take on this as seen in the Times Union:
When the UAlbany men's basketball can win an America East Conference game with sophomore forward Jonathan Beagle from Hudson Falls only scoring one point it goes to show you the depth the Great Danes have this season. Junior Muneer Newton came off the bench and scored 13 points and grabbed 12 rebounds and Sebastian Thomas scored 30 points. The Greats Danes had five players in double figures and Beagle was not one of them and they still beat Binghamton by 20. We will learn more about UAlbany this week when they host UMass-Lowell and Bryant two teams picked second and third behind Vermont in the preseason polls.

Next up for UAlbany are two straight games at home vs UMass Lowell Thursday at 7 and Bryant Saturday at 7.  This UAlbany team will absolutely be competing in the America East conference tournament.  They have more energy and are much better on both sides of the ball.  I expect some more wins to come this season especially at home where they are still undefeated.
