A Syracuse man has been issued several traffic tickets after the tow truck he was operating, and it's cargo, didn't clear the height of the overpass above him. Take a look at the pictures below, one vehicle is destroyed.
In 2025 New York Governor Kathy Hochul launched the 'Check your height, know it's right' campaign. This was designed to remind commercial vehicle drivers and large trucks in the Empire State and beyond to prevent bridge strikes by knowing how tall your load is.

Bridge strikes are 100 percent preventable, but it takes a concerted effort combining the forces of education, enforcement and public awareness to prevent them from occurring, and that’s just what our nationally-adopted ‘Check Your Height, Know it’s Right’ campaign aims to do. - Governor Hochul
On Thursday July 9th around 11:30am, the New York State Police responded to Interstate 81 southbound in the town of Cicero for a property damage crash involving a tow truck and a bridge.

The investigation determined that 34-year-old Adam P. Mullings of Syracuse, was operating a 2002 yellow International flatbed tow truck southbound in the right lane of Interstate 81.
The tow truck was transporting a 2019 Ford F550 on its flatbed when it attempted to pass beneath the Taft Road bridge. The vehicle being transported struck the underside of the bridge, causing damage to both the Ford F550 and the bridge.

The New York State Department of Transportation was notified of the bridge damage. No injuries were reported and Mullings was issued multiple traffic tickets.
