New York Jets Head Coach Rex Ryan confirmed yesterday in a conference call that Safety Jim Leonhard is done for the season with a torn patellar tendon.

It was a good thing turned into a bad situation in the first half of Sunday's game against the Kansas City Chiefs. Leonhard had just intercepted a pass from Chiefs quarterback Tyler Palko. He was immediately tackled by the intended target Steve Breaston who grabbed his leg to take him down and that resulted in the season ending injury.

Leonhard broke his leg last season making this the second year in a row he hasn't finished a complete schedule. Brodney Pool, who took over for Leonhard last season, and Eric Smith will take over the duties as Safety. Jeremy Kerley will take over Leonhard's duties as punt returner.
