Jorge Posada said that he was just waiting for the right time to make the announcement, and it looks like the right time for him to hang it up will be Tuesday.

After 17 seasons, all with the New York Yankees, Jorge Posada has decided to retire at the age of 40.  He leaves the Bronx Bombers a five time all-star, four time world champion and has five silver slugger awards to his name.  Now doubt we will see him back at the Stadium from time to time.

2011 wasn't his best year, which was probably a big factor is his decision to retire.  He finishes up his career with 275 homers and 1065 RBIs.  So is Jorge Posada done with baseball?  Not likely.  Look at most managers in the bigs.  There are a lot of former catchers at the helm, and it wouldn't surprise us in the least if Jorge managed a team someday.
