The work ethic of Kevin Smith is second to none and that’s why his dream of playing Major League Baseball became a reality on Tuesday when he was drafted by the Toronto Blue Jays. It’s a long haul, but KJ has the drive and talent to make it all work. Kevin was one of the best players the minute he put on a uniform in East Greenbush-Castleton Little League. I have no doubt that trend will continue at the next level, the biggest level of them all.

On Sunday, Smith signed his contract and officially became a member of the Blue Jays organization. He exhibited some surprising pop from the shortstop position this past season, his junior year at Maryland. Smith led the Terps in home runs and slugging percentage and his glove has always been a strong part of his game.
