Tis' the season to watch movies and TV shows that are meant to scare the pants off of us. We all know the big-time classics like "Friday the 13th", "Halloween" and "Nightmare on Elm Street". If you're like me you've seen all of these possibly 100 times each. So here are my Top 5 horror movies that don't get as much love as the "classics" but completely deserve a watch.

5) "The Ritual" (2017)

The Ritual is a Netflix original about a group of friends that reunite for a hike to mourn a deceased friend. Let's just say they picked the wrong woods to bond in.

4) "The Babadook" (2014)

The Babadook has received some love from critics but many people have skipped it. Is the boogie man real or only in the dark parts of our minds? Is the Babadook real or just a mother losing her mind?

3) "Life" (2017)

Life is a blockbuster caliber space survival horror with Ryan Reynolds and Jake Gyllenhaal that just about no one has seen. Fix that! Watch this movie.

2) "Odd Thomas" (2013)

Odd Thomas is a really fun yet still scary movie starring Anton Yelchin. It takes the whole "I see dead people" to an action-packed fun level. I'd compare it to Micheal J Fox's "The Frighteners" but honestly, that movie could also be on this list.

1) "Train to Busan" (2016)

Train to Busan is simply one of the best zombie movies I've ever seen. I was totally hesitant to watch it because it's Korean and I'm not a big subtitle guy but I am so glad I did. There's a sequel out not called "Peninsula" and rumors of an English language remake in the works. Take the time to watch this one if you're a fan of the zombie genre.
