Mets Alonso Wins More Than Just The Home Run Derby

Only fitting Pete Alonso won the Home Run Derby contest. Alonso hit 30 home runs in the first half of the season, and he along with Vlad Guerrero Jr put on a show on Monday. Those two rookies looked like they were thoroughly enjoying themselves, and all players don’t show that emotion when ask to compete in the event. Best part for me was the money. Alonso made $1 million and that nearly doubles his salary. Better yet, he donated 5 percent of his winnings to the Wounded Warriors Project and Tunnel to Towers Foundation. Gotta  love the Polar Bear.
