The New York Mets hit eight home runs on Monday night and beat the Philadelphia Phillies, 16-7, in Philadelphia.

The Mets got a home run from David Wright as he returned to the lineup for the first time since April, but also got blasts from Juan Lagares, Travis d'Arnoud, Michael Cuddyer, Daniel Murphy, Yoenis Cespedes, and then got two from Wilmer Flores.

The Mets set a club record for homers (8), and extra-base hits (15). In addition, the Mets came back from a 7-2 deficit by scoring two touchdowns worth of unanswered runs. They had 20 total hits.

The win moves NY to 5.5 up on the Washington Nationals in the National League East race.

Jacob deGrom got didn't factor in the decision for the Mets. He went only 2.2 innings, surrendering seven runs (six earned).

Sean Gilmartin got the win in relief. He tossed 3.1 innings. He gave up no runs and struck out four.

He's now 3-1.
