Syracuse University has officially announced Jim Boeheim's replacement. The future of the Syracuse basketball program was one of the many questions thrown in the direction of the Orange's new athletic director Mark Coyle last week following his official introduction. Coyle wasted no time in announcing Mike Hopkins as the new head coach of the Syracuse Basketball team... in 2018.

Syracuse University officially announced that Hopkins will be the next head coach of the Syracuse basketball program once Jim Boeheim retires in three seasons.

"For more than 25 years, Mike Hopkins has demonstrated the true meaning of Orange pride and loyalty," Syracuse chancellor Kent Syverud said in a statement. "He has contributed so much to the success of the Syracuse basketball program. I know Mike is ready to lead the program into the future and carry forward the success that has occurred under Coach Boeheim."

Coach Hopkins was a former player under Coach Boehiem in the early 1990s and has been on the school's coaching staff since 1995. Syracuse finished with a 18-13 overall record last season.
