The sport of boxing may have lost some of its popularity in the American sports scene, but the violent combat sports has continued to have success when it comes to the big screen. Legendary films like Raging Bull, the Rocky series, the powerful documentary When We Were Kings and more recently the critically acclaimed The Fighter all focused their stories on boxers. Later this month, Hands of Stone will be released nation wide in theaters. The film had already been released at the Cannes Film Festival in May and received positive reviews. The story is based off the book by Christian Giudice about the life of former champion Roberto Duran. Edgar Ramirez stars as Roberto Duran, R&B singer Usher Raymond stars as Duran's most popular Ray Leonard. Roberto DeNiro stars as Ray Arcel, Duran's former trainer. DeNiro won an Academy Award in 1980 for his portrayal of champion boxer Jake LaMotta in Raging Bull. Hands of Stone will be released on August 26th.
