Why Jets fans should have more hope this season
While the New York Jets are still an incredibly far way away from being a Super Bowl contender, nothing can be as bad as last year right? Starting out 0-7 and finishing 3-14 makes it very hard for fans to have any hope for this upcoming season. But the pressure is on this team to at least show any sort of improvement, otherwise the Aaron Glenn era in New York could be unbelievably short lived.
The Offense
On the bright side this Jets team has a lot more talent than people give them credit for. They figured out their relationship with Breece Hall and gave him a contract he should be very motivated with. Garret Wilson has some real help alongside him with A.D Mitchell, who hasn't showcased his true potential just yet in the NFL.
Many are not giving Geno Smith much of a chance to do anything of note. After his previous season in Las Vegas it makes sense, the man was a turnover machine. But the Raiders also did him no favors with how poor their offensive line was. Geno Smith when he's had time in the pocket has had good years, especially in Seattle. The Jets have clearly put some emphasis on their O-line after using multiple first round picks over the last few years on retooling the front 5.
The Defense
While the Jets will certainly miss Sauce Gardner in their secondary, his absence doesn't mean this defense is bad. David Bailey Jr is coming in with high expectations off the edge as a 2nd overall pick. Plus this defense is loaded with veteran leadership with guys like Minkah Fitzpatrick and Demrario Davis.
The Jets aren't a playoff team just yet, but they clearly have the capability to win more than 3 games, and Aaron Glenn's job may be in the balance.
