PETA Wants Auburn To Retire War Eagle [VIDEO]
PETA is urging Auburn to retire War Eagle in light of a scary crash into a luxury box last weekend. If you needed more ammunition to suggest that PETA is often times horrid, here it is.
Unsurprisingly, PETA was freaked out after War Eagle made a wrong turn straight into a luxury box last Saturday. The incident happened during Auburn's 41-34 home win against Mississippi State.
“Animals aren’t performers or party decorations, and they don’t deserve to be frightened, hurt or even killed just so we can have a momentary thrill,” PETA’s Lindsay Pollard-Post wrote in a letter posted on the Montgomery Advertiser’s website. “In light of Spirit’s (name of eagle) disturbing accident, let’s hope the Tigers will be good sports and retire their animal mascots to sanctuaries, where they can live out their days in peace and safety."
This was one isolated incident during a typical pregame ritual. It really wasn't even a crash. It was more like a minor fender bender. Spirit shock it off and is doing just fine. It's unfortunate that PETA makes these horribly anal requests all of the time. Most people roll their eyes and forget about some of the great work that PETA actually does. If you make a mountain out of too many molehills, your crusade falls onto deaf ears. Settle down, PETA.
